A method which helps children to read and write by developing their awareness of phonemics. Children begin to learn with the help of phonics. Once they are through with the sound of every syllable, reading becomes a cakewalk for them and helps them go beyond the stipulated syllabus of school. With the help of phonics, children start reading early, and that is proven since last four decades.
As per jolly phonics, we teach five critical skills to children so that they can read and write. The program also helps the child with grammar, spelling and some necessary punctuation skills.
It is always good to start early. The children can start the learning when they begin exploring the world of words.They can start learning phonics from preschool so precisely from the age of 4 years to 8.
Grammar is to the language what soul is to the body. The English language is often considered way tricky for the kids and the adults alike. Jolly Grammar is a pedagogy which ensures that the kids enjoy the rules of the language in a fun way. The different colors and actions are taught to be associated with the various parts of speech thus making the entire learning a colorful affair.
Jolly Phonics teaches the 42 main sounds of the English language, not just the alphabet. The sounds are grouped, with some sounds as single letters and others as two letters. Each sound is accompanied by an action helping children to remember.
Children need to form each letter in the correct way, holding the pencil in the “tripod” grip. They begin with the letter c as this forms the basic shape of some other letters, such as d. Jolly Phonics shows the correct formation of each letter.
Blending is the process of saying the individual sounds in a word and then running them together to make the word. This is a technique all children need to learn, and the skill improves with practice.
This comes from the foundation of letter sounds and blending. Jolly Phonics uses rhyming games, poems, finger tapping and other games to assist children in practicing the identification of words to make the practice enjoyable.
Many words are more difficult to sound out. These are called “tricky words”, such as was, mass, said, laugh, etc. The child is taught to write the word in the air, saying the letters out loud. Then the child writes the word on paper.
